The Cowboy Hat
Once upon a time there was a boy who worked in a stable where his uncle raised the most powerful horses. Jason loved those horses and saw them as friends for him; he even talked to them when he has done from all of his chores.
One day his uncle got very sick, it was the scarlet fever. Because where they lived there was no way of communication, Jason took one of his uncle’s horses and looked to the nearest town where there is a hospital. Unfortunately, it seems that the nearest hospital was far from where they lived and Jason did not know the direction that much, actually, he never went out of his small town, he didn’t feel like there is any reason for doing so.
When he reached the town he was really exhausted, he didn’t know where to go and was shocked by all the traffic that disturbed the silence that he is used to. “Hey! What do you think you are doing!” Someone shouted at Jason while he was tying his horse to one of the street lights, the scene of a horse and a young man with a cowboy hat looked a little awkward in a place where fancy dresses are everywhere. “I’m sorry, but can you lead me to the nearest hospital in this place?” Jason asked the angry man as politely as possible, but the angry man made a more annoyed face and went away.
Jason’s heart shrugged as he saw the high buildings of the city, he wasn’t used to such things, but slowly, his fascination turned to fear and loss as he walked aimlessly through the avenues trying to find some help. He now misses that simple place where he used to smell the fresh green grass and the blue sky which he have forgotten in this crowded place. For a moment, Jason had forgot about his sick uncle and started worrying about all those people who are missing simple things with great effects, things as simple as fresh air.
While he was sitting on the street’s bench, he saw a sign “The Miracle Hand’s Hospital” Jason jumped from where he was sitting, he now remembers his sick uncle, he run as fast as he can and looked for a doctor, after getting lost inside the hospital white alleys he found a man with the white jacket and the stethoscope hanging on his nick, “I believe you’re the doctor ay?” The man nodded, “Please you got to help me. My uncle is very sick, you got to come with me and see him.” “Okay, kid, we will send an ambulance now, where does your uncle live?” Jason gave the directions of the place. He wanted to go with them but he forgot about the horse, the doctor told him to wait here for his uncle.
Jason sat at the cafeteria very worried that the ambulance won’t find the place. He went back and forth to the reception to ask about his uncle. An old man sitting next to him was staring at him, and then finally called, “Hey kid!” Jason turned his back quickly as if someone shook him. He went to him, “I see you are not from around here aren’t ya?” Jason nodded but he looked absent, he was very worried.
The two ended up by talking about the city and the village, Jason was astonished by all the things that are in the city, the goods and the bad. Finally, the old man advised Jason to try and discover the world, instead of locking himself inside that old wooden stable, “you are not aware of the things you are missing, kid, life is full of experiences, you should spread your wings and see the world with an open mind, this is the only way to live.” Some of the words didn’t make much sense to Jason at the beginning, but then, after absorbing the wise words of the old man, they started to find places in his mind, he saw it as a chance to follow his dreams, to make his voice reach so many people, “I want to make a change!” Jason Shouted. The old man smiled, his eyes glittered with a proud look for the young man in front of him.
After Jason’s uncle being brought to the hospital, he was treated very well and he became in a good shape again. It’s the day he will get out of the hospital. And Jason, after making sure that his uncle has become as good as before, he told him that he wants to move out of this place and try to follow his dreams, “I want to be prepare a new ground for the coming generations. I will do what others failed to do. I don’t want to change the world, I want to empower people’s minds in order to fix what others have broken. I will be their Hope.” Jason’s uncle was proud of what he have heard, he let Jason go and prayed for him to achieve his goals. And before Jason leaves, he gave him his favorite cowboy hat, so he will never forget the simplicity of the village and the wonderful nature that taught him to appreciate life.
